How many days do I need?
Pick one of our routes or enter your own drive hours, then set how long you want to drive each day. The planner adds breaks, stops and rest days.
A planning guide, not advice.
Worked example
Made-up figures: 8 hours of driving, at most 8 hours behind the wheel a day, 8 hours available each day, and a 15-minute break for every 2 hours of driving.
Breaks add 8 ÷ 2 × 15 minutes = 1 hour, so the driving takes 9 hours. That doesn't fit in one 8-hour day, so you need 2 days: day 1 4 hours, day 2 4 hours of driving.
The break length here is only an example: check the Highway Code's advice on breaks.
How it works
Driving with breaks = drive hours + drive hours ÷ 2 × break minutes ÷ 60.
Days = the larger of (drive hours ÷ your daily driving limit) and ((driving with breaks + stop hours) ÷ hours available each day), each rounded up, plus rest days.
Route presets fill in the drive time only once every leg of the route has a sourced time; until then, enter the hours from your route planner.
